When I think about herbarium, I think about those gorgeous scientific drawings of plants and herbs. Edx offers an amazing online course where you can learn to draw plants, herbs and insects yourself! Now isn’t that super cool <3 You can find the course here.

Als ik denk aan herbarium, denk ik aan die prachtige wetenschappelijke illustraties van planten en kruiden. Edx biedt een geweldige online cursus aan waarbij je zelf kunt leren om de planten, kruiden en insecten te tekenen! Is dat niet super cool <3 Je kunt de cursus hier vinden (in het engels). 

I also think about dried flower bouquets and pressed flowers. I think it’s wonderful to preserve something so fleeting as flowers. Here you will find three methods for how to press flowers yourself.

Ik denk ook aan gedroogde boeketten en geperste bloemen. Ik vind het prachtig om zoiets vergankelijks als bloemen te kunnen conserveren. Hier vind je drie methodes om zelf bloemen te persen.

The Hexie

For the second hexie of this theme I have used another page of my plantbook for my color inspiration. I just love these illustrations <3 For the yarn I used 8 colors Scheepjes Stone Washed and River Washed from the Colour Pack*. The colorlist can be found below.

Voor de tweede hexie van dit thema gebruikte ik nog een andere pagina van mijn plantenboek als kleurinspiratie. Ik vind deze illustraties echt prachtig <3 Voor het garen gebruikte ik 8 kleuren van Scheepjes Stone Washed en River Washed uit de Colour Pack*. De kleurenlijst kan je hieronder vinden. 

*The codes that start with an 8 are Stone Washed colors, the codes that start with a 9 are River Washed colors. / De codes beginnend met een 8 zijn Stone Washed kleuren, de codes beginnend met een 9 zijn River Washed kleuren. 

Which colors do you see when you think about pressed flowers or old herbarium sheets? You can use my colors, or come up with your own colorway. You can find the pattern for both hexies here!
