Like in the bee-themed post, the lady behind The Olde Sewing Room, also embroiders butterflies! *swoon* I really need one of those one day!

Net als in de post met het bijen-thema, maakt de vrouw achter The Olde Sewing Room ook vlinders! *zucht* Ik moet echt een keer zo eentje hebben!

If you have found a dead butterfly in the garden, and you want to enjoy its presence longer, you can try to preserve it. I also do it with bees that I find beneath bushes and for butterflies it can be done too. For bees I use a clear hand sanitizer gel to preserve them in little jars. The wings of butterflies are too large for that, but other techniques can be used. You can find more information about insect taxidermy here.

Als je een dode vlinder in de tuin hebt gevonden, en als je langer wilt genieten van zijn of haar aanwezigheid, dan kan je proberen om deze te preserveren. Ik doe het ook met bijen die ik in de tuin vind en met vlinders kan het natuurlijk ook. Voor bijen gebruik ik handontsmettingsgel die ik in kleine potjes stop. De vleugels van vlinders zijn te groot hiervoor, maar er zijn andere technieken die je kunt gebruiken. Je kunt hier meer informatie vinden over insecten preserven(in het engels).

The Hexie

For the second hexie of this theme I have used the colors of the brimstone butterfly. Like the red admiral, I also see this butterfly a lot in our garden, so I could not let it go by unnoticed. For the yarn I used 8 colors Scheepjes Stone Washed from the Colour Pack*. The colorlist can be found below.

Voor de tweede hexie van dit thema gebruikte ik de kleuren van de citroenvlinder. Ook deze vlinder komt vaak in onze tuin voor, dus ik kon hem niet onopgemerkt voorbij laten vliegen. Voor het garen gebruikte ik 8 kleuren van Scheepjes Stone Washed uit de Colour Pack*. De kleurenlijst kan je hieronder vinden.
