What I am working on at the moment
Hello crochet friend!
I am popping on the blog to share what I am currently working on and it’s a lot! I know that I am not sharing that much at the moment, and so I thought to reward your patience a bit with a behind-the-scenes share.
Sometimes I feel like I get ideas like I am running an enterprise with 100s of employees, while I am just a one-woman-show, working 3 mornings a week… The irony is not lost on me and often times I have to postpone or cut out projects (like I need to do at the moment) in order to keep my sanity.

Ik kom even op de blog om je te vertellen over waar ik op dit moment aan werk en het is echt heel veel… Ik weet dat ik op dit moment niet zo veel deel of uitbreng, dus ik had bedacht jullie geduld een beetje te belonen met een achter-de-schermen post.
Soms voelt het alsof ik ideeën krijg alsof ik een groot bedrijf met 100-den medewerkers heb, terwijl ik het maar in mijn eentje doe en ook nog eens maar 3 ochtenden per week… Ja ik voel de ironie. En soms moet ik daardoor projecten uitstellen of helemaal op de lange baan schuiven (zoals ik op dit moment moet doen) zodat ik niet helemaal gek word.
New crochet designs
A few weeks ago I got a big box full of Scheepjes yarn. The project the yarn is for is something I am absolutely in love with and I cannot wait to crochet on it this Summer so I can hopefully roll it out in the Fall/Winter. It will be a mix and match project and so so fun!
Next to that I am also working on a big project that I can tell you absolutely nothing about, which takes up most of my time. Release date? To be determined…
Een paar weken geleden kreeg ik een hele doos vol met Scheepjes garen. Dit project waar het garen voor is, is iets waar ik echt helemaal verliefd op ben en ik kan niet wachten deze zomer er aan te gaan haken. Hopelijk kan ik het dan uitbrengen in de Herfst/Winter. Het wordt een mix en match project en zo zo leuk!
Daarnaast werk ik aan een groter project waar ik je helemaal niks over kan vertellen maar wel het meeste van mijn tijd opneemt. Wanneer komt deze dan uit? Dat moeten we nog zien…
Free crochet videos and yarn retreat boxes
Next to these designs I am also working together with Christina Burns from Crafting with Chrissie. She will create step-by-step videos for my patterns, beginning with the ever-popular Hotel of Bees shawl. This means you are able to follow along with the videos for free!
To celebrate this, I am curating a crochet retreat box, which contains:
- the yarn
- printed pattern
- the book All the Light We Cannot See (optional)
- a bookmark
And there will also be a limited deluxe edition (only 30 available) will also contain exclusive, handmade goodies such as luxury stitch markers and more…

Naast dat ik bezig ben met deze ontwerpen, werk ik ook samen met Christina Burns van Crafting with Chrissie. Zij zal stap-voor-stap video’s voor mijn patronen opnemen, te beginnen met de nog-steeds-populaire Hotel of Bees shawl (in het engels, Christina is Australisch). Some shameless self-promotion for crochet designers
As an introverted creative, I still struggle with outright self-promotion, even after all these years of working and promoting my stuff. I hope that by adding a section called ‘shameless self-promotion’ to take away some of that ‘ick’. Today’s promotion: The Immersive, a transformational program for crochet designers!
Crochet is getting ever more popular with slow living trends and granny hobbies arising (and I am all here for it). It also means there are more and more crochet designs being offered.
Reading this, it seems like it will be harder to stand out between 1000s of other designs (I checked, more than 500,000 crochet patterns on Ravelry alone).
But nothing could be further from the truth!
I see successful crochet designers all around me, not because they decided to create a Tiktok every day. Or because they implement the latest marketing strategies. Or because they ‘have the algorhythm down’.

- they create unique designs they absolutely love in a way that feels easy and light and fun for them (this is different for everyone)
- they have found their own unique and recognizable style and as a result have built a loyal customer following (= your foundation for a successful crochet design business)
- they learned what works for them and what doesn’t when it comes to promotion so they don’t feel like their soul gets sucked out of them every time they need to market something.
And as a result, they experience success <3

Als introverte creatieveling worstel ik nog steeds met zelfpromotie, zelfs na al die jaren van het promoten van mijn werk. Ik hoop dat door het toevoegen van een sectie genaamd ‘schaamteloze zelfpromotie’ een deel van dat ongemakkelijke gevoel weggenomen wordt. De promotie van vandaag: The Immersive, een impactvol programma voor haakontwerpers! (alleen beschikbaar in het engels)

- ze haakontwerpen maken die zo magnetisch zijn dat mensen ze gewoon niet kunnen weerstaan!
- ze unieke ontwerpen maken waar ze helemaal weg van zijn, op een manier die gemakkelijk, licht en leuk aanvoelt (dit is voor iedereen anders)
- ze hun eigen unieke en herkenbare stijl hebben gevonden en daardoor een trouwe klantenkring hebben opgebouwd (= jouw basis voor een succesvol haakontwerpbedrijf)
- ze hebben geleerd wat voor hen werkt en wat niet als het gaat om promotie, zodat ze niet het gevoel hebben dat ze hun ziel verkopen telkens als ze iets moeten marketen.
En daardoor ervaren ze succes <3
