Since I have started my full-time job I don’t have a lot of time to design. Instead, I am cuddling with my stash and ogling at all the gorgeous things other people are making. So, at the moment I don’t have new patterns to show you (yet). Instead I thought it was a good idea to show off the newest Scheepjes yarn!

Sinds ik met mijn full-time baan ben begonnen heb ik niet heel veel tijd meer om te ontwerpen. In plaats daarvan knuffel ik soms met mijn garenvoorraad en kijk ik verlekkerd naar wat anderen aan het maken zijn. Ik heb dus (nog) geen nieuws over nieuwe patronen, maar ik dacht dat het wel leuk zou zijn om het nieuwste scheepjes garen te laten zien!

About Scheepjes Chunky Monkey / Over Scheepjes Chunky Monkey

Scheepjes Chunky Monkey* is an aran weight acrylic yarn. The recommended hook is 5mm. One of the special features of this yarn is that it is anti-pilling! So you won’t get those ugly pills when making and using it in a project. How cool is that? : D

Scheepjes Chunky Monkey* is een dik acryl garen voor een 5mm haaknaald. Wat is zo speciaal aan dit garen? Het pilt en pluist niet! Dus je krijgt geen lelijke pluizen/bolletjes als je dit garen gebruikt voor je projecten. Hoe cool is dat? : D 

Chunky Monkey* comes in balls of 100 grams at a length of 116 meters. I have made a few swatches with the yarn and there are a few things that caught my attention.

• The 100% premium Acrylic is buttery soft and does not squeak on your hook.
• The yarn is almost self blocking, it keeps shape really well.
• The recommended hook (5mm (H)) was too small for me, as the end result turned out quite stiff. I would either work with a 5.5 or a 6mm for a project using this yarn.

Een bol Chunky Monkey* bevat 100 gram en 116 meter. Ik heb een paar proeflapjes gemaakt en er zijn een aantal dingen die me opvallen.

• Het 100% Premium Acryl garen is zacht als boter en het piept niet op je haaknaald. 
• Het garen is bijna zelf-blockend (ja hoe schrijf je dat eigenlijk, haha). Het houdt zijn vorm zeer goed vast. 
• De aangeraden haaknaald (5mm) was te klein voor mij, want daarmee werd het proeflapje naar mijn mening te stijf. Ik zou zelf met een 5,5 of 6mm haaknaald werken.

So, what to make with this yarn? I have made a selection of patterns that you can use Chunky Monkey with. I have indicated the originally used yarns above the picture. Since it is a brand new yarn, there aren’t much designs for it yet.

Dus wat kan je maken met dit garen? Ik heb een selectie gemaakt van patronen waarvoor je Chunky Monkey kunt gebruiken. Ik heb de origineel gebruikte garens boven de foto’s gezet. Omdat het een gloednieuw garen is, zijn er nog niet veel ontwerpen voor te vinden.
