I can’t believe The Overstory CAL has finished! It has been over two weeks and I really miss hanging out with you guys!
One thing I love most about doing Crochet alongs, is that I get to see your amazing work in real time! It feels so rewarding to see how others recreate your designs and in so many colors and yarns! I so enjoy seeing them! That’s why I wanted to share some of our favorite picks to finish this CAL off properly! You guys were so thrilled with this CAL and read-along, I also just had to share some of that love here on the blog next to the crochet pics <3

‘I feel like it is a miracle that i am able to follow such a complicated looking pattern— it is very well written! …the pattern is quite forgiving (and no real tree has every leaf identical right?)’
Femke van der Poll
“I loved this for the whole package. The pattern is lovely and provides both relaxing parts and more challenging parts. The wall hanging I finished fast. With the shawl I’m taking my time and also working it together with other project. Really loved the book, also because I usually pick different books myself, so it was fun to broaden my horizon and I liked that we were all reading it together even though I couldn’t stick to the schedule and finished it early. I also really enjoyed the cosy crochet along sessions I attended. And I really loved the little challenges! That would have been more than enough to enjoy, but there also were prizes and I won one which was the cherry on the pie! Thank you so much Christina!”

‘I kept wanting to do one more row to see the leaves emerge.’

‘Christina Hadderingh you are a magician! I love how these leaves appear stitch by stitch over several rounds. You are such a clever designer! I’ve just started round 12 and I really like that my yarn is changing from yellow to green now!’
Michelle Holden
“I am still working away on mine at the moment, I think I am up to round 9 of part 4 and I am starting to get the teal colour coming through which is very exciting. I am still really enjoying the journey and am happy that I will be working on it over Christmas this year.”

I loved this CAL, never made anything like it before. Another one who didn’t want it to end. Mine is made with two Scheepjes whirls in blueberry bam bam. My fvourite make of the year xx
Linda Buckley
“I loved having a novel to anchor this CAL which gives my shawl special significance as i will think not only of The Overstory every time i wear it but the community and everyone’s stories and shared experience making it. This is so much lovelier in person and the pattern is actually easier and more forgiving than it looks. Thank you Christina Hadderingh for this lovely event and pattern!!”

I just want to say what an absolute dream this CAL has been! I’m not quite finished (round 16 on part 4) but it’s all okay and I’m taking the time to enjoy each stitch. I love that there’s no pressure and I think this CAL has reminded me why I love to crochet so much. I’ve enjoyed interacting with everyone in the group – it’s been delightful
I have the book downloaded on my Kindle ready for some long plane flights next week and I’ll certainly be looking back at the read-along posts as I read. Thank you Christina for everything – I don’t think you need to change a thing! X

Ella was so enthusiastic, she made a shawl AND a wall hanging. And she certainly wasn’t the only one!
Ella was zo enthousiast dat ze een shawl EN een wandversiering heeft gemaakt. En ze was zeker niet de enige!
Thank you
