Don’t you just love to give away handmade gifts? I do!
I was eyeing the Gathering Leaves shawl by Lily Go for a while. Marinke made one too (she gifted it to me) and I loved the look of it.
I had some yarn I didn’t know what to make with, and thought I would turn it into this gorgeous shawl. Only, the colors I used are not really something I would normally wear, so I decided it should be a gift for my mothers birthday.
I like to wrap handmade presents with ribbons. It makes the gift look even more special 🙂
She was really happy with my shawl. My mom loves handmade gifts and since her last three birthdays, each year she has been the happy recipient of my crafty goodness 😀
I used a 4 mm hook and light fingering weight yarn (Marks & Kattens Fame Trend) in three color ways (see my ravelry page for more details). It turned out soooo big! I did two repeats of the leaves and started with the “border”, but I ran out of yarn before I could finish. It would have been huge if I managed to finish it!
Yes! Don’t you agree that giving is definitely better than receiving? 🙂
