Inspiration / Inspiratie
The shawl is inspired by Barkskins from Annie Proulx and her depiction of the dark, indiginous, untamed North American forests.
This design is made in four different sections, or ‘chapters’ where I invite you to wander with me through the native American forests. Dense, dark forests with trees hundreds and hundreds of years old.
The first ripple stitch section is worked sideways (very fun to make!), before it continues with three easy – and very fun – filet crochet sections. Which are all inspired by different tree shapes. As you can see, the color changes from light to dark, signifying the misty, dense, native North-American forests, just as the book describes.
De shawl is geïnspireerd op het boek Schorshuiden van Annie Proulx en haar beeldende verhaal over de donkere, ongetemde bossen van Noord America.
Dit ontwerp is gemaakt in vier verschillende secties of ‘hoofdstukken’, waar ik je uitnodig om te struinen met mij door de originele Amerikaanse bossen. Ongetemde, donkere bossen met bomen van honderden en honderden jaren oud. Het eerste deel met het rimpel patroon wordt zijwaarts gewerkt (heel erg leuk om te doen!), voordat je verder gaat met drie makkelijke – en leuke – filet secties. Deze secties zijn allemaal geïnspireerd op verschillende boomvormen. Zoals je kunt zien, veranderen de kleuren van licht naar donker, wat de mistige, donkere Noord-Amerikaanse bossen weergeeft, net zoals het boek ons vertelt.

The little pattern details / De kleine patroon details
* A written pattern in English US terms or Dutch / Een geschreven patroon in Engels of Nederlands
* Clear tutorial pictures for the few tricky bits / Duidelijke foto’s voor de paar lastigere onderdelen
* Crochet charts for the whole shawl / Haakdiagrammen voor de hele shawl
* Choose between a printer friendly version to save paper or a nicely formatted version / Printervriendelijke versie beschikbaar of kies voor de ‘mooie’ versie
* Special techniques (explained with text, diagrams and photos): Picking up stitches along the side of your work / Speciale technieken (uitgelegd met tekst, diagrammen en foto’s): Steken oppakken langs de zijkant van je werk
* Special stitches (US terms): back loop double crochet 3 together, otherwise, very straightforward with single and double crochets only / Speciale steken: drie stokjes samen haken in de achterste lus. Afgezien daarvan is dit een heel makkelijk patroon met verder alleen stokjes en vasten.
