Ever thought about crochet designing? Then this is your sign

Let me tell you a story about my own crochet design journey. Because it wasn’t instant success!

It took me 9 designs and almost 3 years when my design journey finally took off! 

Que to my pivotal moment. The moment it all changed for me… 

I recall this moment so vividly, like it was yesterday. I even have a notebook entry of this moment, as I felt THIS. WAS. IT. This would change my whole career! (and it did) 

It was when I read the book All The Light We Cannot See. Even when I was halfway through this book, I already had 3-4 new design ideas. The ideas came to me faster than I could write them down… (a HUGE sign you’re onto something life changing!)

I was SO inspired and it gave me so much clarity on my design direction: on the stitches I was going to use, the colors, the yarns, the shapes and the project types. It all came together when I read that book. 

With that book as inspiration I designed the Hotel of Bees shawl. I don’t want to brag about it, but just to give you a taste of what’s possible for you, this shawl has sold almost 10.000 copies and is still selling today (I released it in 2016). 

And ever since, and this is no lie, ALL of my designs have landed in the Ravelry top 5. I sold thousands of patterns and I can finally design with fun and ease, because I know exactly what my design options are and what I truly love. 

Ever since I started designing with a clear and unique crochet design style, it all came together for me and my career took off. I even got a major deal with the big yarn company Scheepjes and more collaboration requests than I could say yes to. 

Moreover, because my design style was so clear, I gained a loyal following, because they love what I love and know what to expect of me. Having return customers is the key to success for any crochet designer who doesn’t want to rely on having one best-seller.
