The Bloggers days

In this post you could read that the Scheepjes bloggers were coming to Yarndale, a huge British yarn fair. The fair coincided with the Scheepjes bloggers days, which is once a year. During the Scheepjes bloggers days all bloggers come together to meet, inspire, chat, crochet and knit. It is filled with joy and laughter and lots of new ideas. This was my first Bloggers Days weekend and so I was very much looking forward to the event.

When I met everyone I was a little bit overwhelmed, but they all made sure I felt comfortable and welcome <3 Everyone has their own personality and I must say we fit really well together because of that. It would be very boring if we all thought and felt the same. Even though everyone is so different, we also have this one big thing in common: being a crochet/knit designer. I don’t have any real life crochet friends, so it was so nice to talk (hours and hours) about design and crochet stuff. Especially the design stuff. Because we are all in the same boat, we understand the process and all the big and little things involved.

It was super interesting to learn about other bloggers’ design process and I have been truly inspired <3

Because we combined the bloggers weekend with Yarndale we stayed in England at this amazing old hotel that looked a lot like the hotel from the movie ‘Grand Budapest Hotel‘. It was so cool to stay in such an old building. The area itself was also stunning. I never visited England before, and the hilly scenery was very inspiring <3 I will make sure to come back one day!

Iedereen moet eten toch? : )

Yarndale

We arrived in England on Thursday evening and had a glorious sunny Friday to ourselves. However, Saturday and Sunday was Yarndale time! : D

The first morning we all helped out to get the Scheepjes yarn in their shelves. Yes, we are not only show ponies, but workhorses too ; )

Visitors could come to the Scheepjes stand and meet bloggers and also pet and buy the yarn for their projects : ) It was a bit surreal that people recognized me and came to talk to me. I am not used to so much attention and being in the spotlights. Of course it was fun, because I could meet some of the people I normally only talk to online.

If we weren’t at the Scheepjes stand we were roaming Yarndale; Oo-ing and ah-ing at every stand, petting yarn, meeting indie dyers, gasping at this enormous mandala wall : O

There was so much to see it is a wonder I did not bring a suitcase full of yarn back home!

My Yarndale haul

What did I bring home then? Well, in my opinion my haul is very modest! I really wanted to bring home a sweaters worth of gorgeous tweed yarn, but there was so much tweed to choose that I could not pick a favorite.

Because I could not choose between all the gorgeous tweed yarns, and because I didn’t want to arrive home empty handed, I chose a few project bags. Believe it or not; I have never bought such bags! Usually I just leave my project on the couch or put it in a simple canvas bag.

This first bag is from Quince Pie, which is handmade. Is it not adorable?! It is big enough for a sweater project and has two zipper pockets in the lining. I love the embroidered bumble bees <3 It just screamed ‘me’.

This second bag is also from Quince Pie. The birds and colors just spoke to me from the moment I saw it. I will use it for small projects. I do love the fact that it has a tiny zipper baggie inside.

Of course I also brought home some yarn. I was searching for selfstriping sockyarn to make Carmens Striped and Stranded socks. Eventually my eyes fell on this yarn from West Yorkshire Spinners. I’m sure this will make for a very stunning combo!

I don’t think that what I bought is the most important thing I brought back though. It is definitely the memories, which I will cherish. The group is just amazing and I wouldn’t have wanted to miss this weekend <3 I am already looking forward to the next Bloggers days! : D

  • It was lovely to meet you at Yarndale, Christina – and I really enjoyed your post too! I am still working on my History of Trees Shawl and can’t wait until I can wear it as it is getting chilly here in Yorkshire now! I’m glad you enjoyed your trip.

  • Christina, I loved the project bags you bought! They will serve you well for a long time, I’m sure.

I was happy to hear you were so inspired…that means eventually more patterns/projects for us to enjoy!

So glad you were able to attend!
