If you have read this blogpost, you already know I started working on a new design. And today I am happy to show you some more! : D Like the title reveals, the inspiration for this design is the sea of flames. I don’t know if you have read the book (All the light we cannot see, by Anthony Doerr), but the Sea of Flames is a diamond that plays a very big part in the story. I will tell more about this diamond when the pattern goes live.

Als je deze blogpost hebt gelezen, dan weet je dat ik weer bezig ben met een nieuw ontwerp. Vandaag ben ik blij te melden dat ik wat meer kan laten zien : D Zoals de titel onthult, is de inspiratie voor dit ontwerp de Sea of Flames. Ik weet niet of je het boek hebt gelezen (Als je het licht niet kunt zien, van Anthony Doerr), maar de Sea of Flames is een diamant die een erg grote rol speelt in het verhaal. Ik zal meer over deze diamant vertellen als het patroon wordt gepubliceerd. 

What I can already tell you about the diamond is that it’s blue from the outside and red from within. Hence the name and my color choice : ) And you can now also see that the new design will be a shawl (you can never have too many shawls)

I have tried to create a way of blending the colors together and I think it is working : D It’s very fun to work to the next color. And blending them makes it even more fun, because it changes how the shawl looks with each new color.  I am also using a color change technique which gets you as little ends as possible, because nobody likes that many ends right? : D

Wat ik al wel kan vertellen over de diamant is dat hij blauw is van buiten en rood van binnen. Vandaar de naam en vandaar mijn kleurkeuze : ) En nu zie je ook dat het dus een shawl wordt (je kan nooit teveel shawls hebben).  

Ik heb geprobeerd om een manier te vinden om de kleuren te mengen en ik denk dat het werkt : D Het is erg leuk om naar de volgende kleur te haken. En als je ze mengt is dat nog leuker, want daardoor verandert het uiterlijk van de shawl ook steeds. Daarnaast gebruik ik een kleurenwissel techniek waardoor je zo weinig mogelijk eindjes over houdt, want niemand houdt toch van zoveel eindjes? : D 

For the yarn I chose to work with Scheepjes Stone Washed and River Washed*. It had the perfect colors in the range to go from red to blue <3

Voor het garen had ik gekozen te werken met Scheepjes Stone Washed and River Washed*. Hierin zaten de perfecte kleuren om van rood naar blauw te gaan <3
