Welcome to the first part of the ‘Inspirational Hexies’ blog serie! If you missed last weeks post, you can read all about this here. You can also find a page with all published Hexies here. This first part will be all about the bees <3 As you might know, I absolutely looooove bees. It is no coincidence I designed the Hotel of Bees shawl. They are fascinating and of the utmost importance for the nature around us.
Welkom bij het eerste deel van de ‘Inspirational Hexies’ blogserie! Als je de post van vorige week hebt gemist, kan je er hier alles over lezen. De pagina met alle tot nu toe gepubliceerde Hexies vind je hier. Dit eerste deel gaat over de bijen <3 Zoals je misschien weet heb ik echt een voorliefde voor bijen. Het is geen toeval dat ik de Hotel of Bees shawl heb ontworpen. Ze zijn fascinerend en ontzettend belangrijk voor de natuur om ons heen.
Moodboard / Inspiratiebord
For the moodboard I used magazine cut-outs from Flow Magazine, a handdrawn bee mandala (amazingly done by Karen Creftor), two tiny crochet bees that are made by one of my mothers-in-law, my Hotel of Bees shawl, a golden hexagonal shawl carier, a shade card and some Catona Cutie Pies* and Stone Washed balls from the Colour Pack*.
Voor het sfeerbord heb ik magazine plaatjes gebruikt van Flow Magazine, een handgetekende bijen mandala (geweldig gedaan door Karen Creftor), twee kleine gehaakte bijtjes gemaakt door een van mijn schoonmoeders, mijn Hotel of Bees shawl, een gouden hexagonale sjaaldrager, een staalkaartje en wat Catona Cutie Pies* en Stone Washed bolletjes van de Colour Pack*.
I hope you can read the poem. I thought it was a nice one by Robert Frost: In three words / I can sum up / everything / I’ve learned / about life: / it goes on. Now, that’s something to contemplate.
Ik hoop dat je het gedicht kan lezen. Ik dacht dat het wel een mooie was door Robert Frost: (vertaald) In drie woorden / kan ik alles / opsommen / wat ik heb geleerd / over het leven: / het gaat door. Nou dat is wel iets om over na te denken.
The hexie / De hexie
For the first ‘Inspirational Hexie’ I have gone with the colors of honey. In my head it’s all a golden color, but as you can see, honey can come in a variety of shades! For the yarn I used 9 rounds of different colors of Catona Cutie Pies from my Scheepjes Studio Pack*. You can find the used colors below.
Voor de eerste ‘Inspirational Hexie’ heb ik gekozen voor kleuren van honing. In mijn hoofd zijn dat alleen gouden kleuren, maar zoals je kunt zien, kan honing in allerlei kleuren voorkomen! Ik heb 9 rondes verschillende kleuren Catona Cutie Pies gebruikt uit mijn Scheepjes Studio Pack*. Je kunt de gebruikte kleuren hieronder vinden.
Which colors do you see when you think of bees? You can use my colors, or come up with your own colorway. You can find the pattern for this hexie here!
